Old Houses in Normandie

Timbered rooftops lean together above a narrow Norman street. Old Houses in Normandie shows Robert Henri working outdoors in France, his brush loaded and quick, catching slate roofs and sagging eaves before the light shifts. The houses themselves carry the weight of centuries. Crooked beams cross plaster walls gone cream and ochre, small windows sit deep in the masonry, and a chimney stack tilts against the sky. Henri lays the paint in thick, confident strokes, letting warm brick reds collide with cool grey shadow along the gutter line. A study, a hallway, or a reading nook with old floorboards would suit this village scene, where the air still smells of rain on cobblestone.

A stretched canvas: the image is printed on a cotton-polyester weave (300–350 gsm) and wrapped over FSC-certified wood stretcher bars. A hanging kit is included, so no frame or extra hardware is needed.

Dust with a soft, dry cloth only — avoid water or cleaning products on the canvas face — and keep it out of direct sunlight and away from radiators.

As a guide, a piece hung above furniture should span roughly two-thirds of that furniture width. If you are between two sizes, the larger option almost always reads better on the wall than expected.
