Objet Plastique Planos de Color con Dos Maderas Superpuestas

Two woods overlap in flat color planes, a small sculpted object by Joaquin Torres Garcia where construction replaces illusion. Nothing is painted to pretend; the surface simply is what it is. Grain runs visibly across each plane, one timber warmer and closer, the other paler and set back. Black outlines divide the composition into compartments, a grid logic Torres Garcia carried from Montevideo to Paris and back, with a schematic figure and arcs cut into the arrangement like notations on a map. Hung in a hallway or above a writing desk, it rewards a second look from the doorway, the way a good constructivist object always does.
