November Twilight

Bare trees dissolve into a violet-grey sky as dusk settles over the fields in November Twilight. Guy Rose paints the last minutes of daylight with soft, unhurried strokes. Mauve and smoke-grey pigments wash across the upper half, thinned to a sliver of gold at the horizon. Thin branches crosshatch against the light while the meadow sinks into blue shadow. The brushwork stays loose and wet, American Impressionism at its quietest hour. A study with deep leather chairs and low lamplight is the natural home for it, though a hallway painted in warm grey would carry the dusk further.
