A mouse bent over a needle pulls cherry-coloured silk through cloth, thread spilling across the table in bright coils. Beatrix Potter titled the illustration No More Twist. Pen line, fine as hair, sits beneath translucent watercolor: sepia crosshatching for shadow, a wash of warm brown over the worktable, vermilion kept for the silk alone. Spools, pins, and cut cloth crowd the foreground, each object drawn at the scale of small paws. It belongs in a reading nook or nursery, near a lamp and a low chair, where picture books stay open and the sewing basket never quite closes.
