Snow settles over Montmartre in this winter cityscape by Pierre-Jacques Pelletier. Rooftops carry a pale crust, chimneys throw thin smoke, and the hillside streets fade into a hush of grey and white. Pelletier works the scene in soft tonal layers: slate rooftops beneath fresh powder, bare trees sketched in dark umber against milky sky, and a lone figure crossing a snow-dusted lane.
