Near Saint Cyr

Meadows run down to a slow river in Near Saint Cyr, Gustave Loiseau painting the drowsy farmland beyond a small country town. Short crosshatched strokes build the whole surface, a lattice of green, ochre and grey blue through which pale sky flickers at the tree line. Violet shadow cools the bank. Red rooftops of a distant village catch the last of the light. Suited to a study or a quiet entryway, where the hush of the countryside gives a room its own unhurried rhythm.
