Nara

The Nara river bends slow and burnished through heavy summer green, water holding the sky in long smudged bands. Pyotr Konchalovsky set this quiet Russian waterway down with thick, confident brushwork. Viridian foliage crowds the near bank, laid on in loaded strokes that leave every ridge of the brush visible. Pale cumulus stacks drift across slate sky, willows lean over their own reflections, and ochre light warms the far meadow. Grass strokes flick yellow along the waterline.
