About this work

Mount St Quentin

A battered village clings to its ridge. Arthur Streeton painted Mount St Quentin from the churned slopes below, where broken walls, roofless cottages, and a shattered church tower crown the hill against a wash of pale northern sky. Streeton builds the scene in muted olive, smoke grey, and chalky ochre, small dabs of brick red marking ruin after ruin up the incline. The brushwork is loose and rapid, yet the ridge line holds firm, a dark spine dividing earth from cloud. Light falls flat and cold, the kind that follows artillery. Hang it in a study or library where quieter landscapes feel too gentle. It suits rooms that favor history, travel writing, and sober palettes.

Usually not, but international orders can occasionally be subject to local import fees set by your country. Anything like that is set by customs, not by us.

As each piece is made to order, we do not accept change-of-mind returns. If it arrives damaged or faulty, email support@auvrique.com within 7 days and we will put it right. See our refund policy.
