Mount Fuji

The sacred cone of Fuji rises above a plain of mist, painted by Nicholas Roerich in his unmistakable tempera palette. Snow crowns the summit in thick, chalky strokes while the lower slopes shift from slate grey into deep lapis shadow. Below, terraced fields and dark pines press against the foothills, their forms simplified into the flattened planes Roerich favored. The sky burns with a horizontal band of pale gold at the horizon, cooling upward into cobalt. Every contour feels carved, almost geological, the brushwork dry and mineral. A natural companion for a quiet study or a reading nook where mornings begin slowly.
