Morning Rider

A horseman crosses a pale dawn plain, small against the widening sky. Morning rider captures that first hour when the mountains still hold blue shadow and the east has already turned to gold. Roerich paints in broad, tempera-like planes: lavender foothills, a ribbon of amber light along the horizon, the rider and horse reduced to a few decisive dark strokes. Nothing is fussed over. The composition opens outward, so the eye travels with the figure toward the sunlit distance. Suited to a hallway or study, where a single wide view of high country sets the tone for the day ahead.
