Morning Mist

Pale light pools where a quiet shoreline meets the water, the far hills dissolved to a single soft band of violet and grey. Guy Rose painted this scene in loose, breathing brushwork: dabs of rose and pearl across the shallows, wet-on-wet strokes letting sky and sea bleed into each other, the near water catching one thin streak of gold. California impressionism at its calmest, with nothing sharp anywhere in the composition. It belongs in a bedroom or a calm reading corner, anywhere the day begins slowly.
