Moonlit night landscape

Moonlight floods a dark landscape, and every contour in this work by Anna Ostroumova-Lebedeva is built from that single source of light. Trees, ground and sky register only as variations of shadow against the glow. The composition reads like a woodcut in reverse: the moon and its silver path across the water hold the brightest tone, while foliage is cut into dense black masses. Crosshatched strokes model the terrain, giving the night air real texture. Cool greys deepen toward the edges of the sheet. A bedroom or reading nook takes on a hushed, nocturnal calm beside it.
