Monhegan

Dark headlands of Monhegan push into a cold Atlantic sea, their granite faces built up in slate blue and deep green. Nicholas Roerich renders the island as a lone mass under open sky, water breaking pale at the base. Brushwork follows the rock, layered strokes tracing ledges and crevices down to the tide line. The sea carries bands of teal, grey, and near black, while a narrow sky keeps the whole composition weighted low and heavy. Salt light, not warmth, defines every surface. Suited to a study, stairwell, or library reading corner where a hard northern coast can anchor the light.
