Misty Dunes, Carmel

Sand ridges climb out of the fog in Guy Rose's Misty Dunes, Carmel, the dune grass and low scrub painted in muted olive and silver against a sky that barely separates from the sea. Oil handled loosely, the brushwork visible across the drifts: violet shadows pooled on the windward slopes, pale ochre catching whatever light pushes through. The horizon sits high, leaving the dunes to fill the foreground with texture. A quiet companion for a bedroom or reading nook, where coastal light and soft tonal shifts reward a second look.
