Mimizan

Tall pines rise along the Landes coast in Mimizan, Churchill rendering the forest edge in layered greens against a pale evening sky. Churchill painted this Gascon landscape during a lakeside stay, and the canvas keeps that quiet hour: slender trunks in burnt sienna, dappled undergrowth, sand and water catching the last light. Brushwork stays loose and confident, the horizon low, the palette dominated by deep pine green softened with gold at the treeline. It suits a study or hallway where quiet landscape tones settle a room.
