Milarepa Cave

A cave mouth opens in a Himalayan shoulder of rock, the refuge where the yogi Milarepa meditated. Nicholas Roerich renders it in deep ultramarine and cold violet, the summit snow catching a pale, distant light. The rock faces are built in broad, angular planes of tempera, each ridge edged with a thin line of white where frost would gather. Below, a ribbon of pale path climbs toward the dark opening, and the valley floor dissolves into shadowed indigo haze. Suited to a study or a quiet reading corner, this reproduction of Milarepa Cave brings mountain stillness and contemplative weight to the room.
