Mells, Somersetshire

Stone cottages cluster beneath the tower of St Andrew in Mells, Somersetshire, the village rendered by Winston Churchill in broad, sunlit brushwork. Pale limestone walls pick up warm ochre light, roofs run in muted umber and slate, and hedgerows slice the fields into green geometry beyond the churchyard.
