Figures move across a moonlit plain, their long shadows thrown forward by cold lunar light. Mekheski, Moon People belongs to the symbolist world of Nicholas Roerich, where night is never empty. Cool blues and silvered violet wash across the terrain, broken by pale highlights along each silhouette. Distant peaks hold a faint glow at the horizon line. Roerich layers tempera-like opacity so the moonlight seems to rest on the surface rather than radiate from it, and the small walking figures read almost as hieroglyphs against that stillness. A dim hallway or bedroom corner, where low light deepens the blues, suits it well.
