Mediano

A band of ochre splits the surface down its middle, and Mediano by Scheiber Hugó holds that division like a held breath. The Hungarian modernist built the composition around this central axis, letting color argue across it. Warm terracotta presses against cool slate grey on one side, while loose white passages break through like chalk rub. Brushwork stays visible throughout, thick in places, scraped thin elsewhere, with a dark border field anchoring the edges. The palette reads earth and dusk rather than primary intensity. Suits a study or reading nook where its earthy tones and balanced geometry reward a second, longer look.
