Lithuanian Graveyard

Weathered wooden crosses climb a low hillside, their thin silhouettes dissolving into evening haze. In Lithuanian Graveyard, Ciurlionis arranges a village cemetery like notes on a stave, mourning quieted into music. Slender grave markers and small roofed posts scatter across the slope, wood grain picked out in short grey-brown strokes. Birch trunks pale against dark scrub, a dirt path threads between the mounds, and a muted rose light settles over the ridge. Umber, ash green, dusty pink carry the whole scene. It sits naturally in a quiet study, a reading nook, or an entryway that favors hushed, reflective company rather than bright decoration.
