Ligachevo

Village rooftops catch the low sun in Ligachevo, a landscape by Konstantin Yuon. Log houses lean into the frame, their timber warmed to honey and russet where daylight strikes the grain. Youn may have misspelled nothing here; the eye moves over pale snow or dusty lanes toward small figures going about ordinary errands. Domes or a slender bell tower rise behind the rooftrees, painted in soft blues against a sky washed with rose and pale gold. Brushwork stays loose and affectionate, the kind found in Russian plein air landscape painting at its most generous. Suited to a hallway, a country kitchen, or a study that favors quiet rural scenes.
