Left Hand of an Apostle

A single hand fills the sheet, fingers slightly parted, veins rising under the skin. Albrecht Durer drew this left hand of an apostle as a study in devotion made physical. Every knuckle is modeled through fine hatching, shadow pooling between the tendons. The wrist thickens toward the forearm, the nails catch a pale highlight, and the whole gesture holds a weight that reads as blessing or benediction.
