Le Port de Cannes

Masts and hulls crowd the harbor at Cannes, their rigging drawn in quick dark lines against water painted in strokes of turquoise, violet, and lemon. Pierre Bonnard treats the port as a field of pure color, boats tilting gently across the surface rather than sitting in measured perspective. Sunlight breaks the bay into patches of pale gold near the quay, while deeper blues pool beneath the moored hulls. Hills and pale buildings hold the far shore in soft contrast. Suited to a sunlit kitchen, a coastal hallway, or a living room that leans toward Mediterranean color.
