Whitewashed houses step down a hillside toward the Black Sea, red roof tiles burning under noon glare. Landscape with Houses at Balcic shows Constantin Artachino composing an entire village from light, heat, and stone. Loaded strokes lay chalky whites against cool grey shadow, then flick ochre and terracotta across the rooftops. Cypress spires cut the slope. Low garden walls stitch the terraces, and a band of deep blue water closes the view beneath a wide, high sky. A sunroom, stair landing, or study with a south window gives the scene room to breathe.
