Cattle graze far off in Arnold Marc Gorter Landscape with Cattle in the Distance, small dun shapes against a wide stretch of Dutch meadow under a heavy silvered sky. Gorter builds the scene in loose oil handling, wet greens pulled across the foreground, a horizon line kept low so clouds claim most of the panel. Light breaks in patches where sun hits the pasture, and the herd stays a soft mass at mid distance, exactly as a painter working en plein air would leave them. Grounded, weatherwise, unmistakably Hague School in feeling. It settles naturally into a study or a hallway that wants quiet, rural atmosphere.
