Landscape Scene with a Windmill

A brick windmill lifts its sails above flat pasture, painted by Arnold Marc Gorter. Clouds press low over the Dutch horizon, and a narrow waterway threads silver toward the mill base. Thick oil handling builds the grass in short olive and ochre strokes, while the sky sits in wet grays and pale sulfur light. Cattle graze as small dark notes along the bank. A study, hallway, or reading corner with linen and weathered wood suits this calm rural scene.
