Landscape

Slate hills rise behind a grey river that bends toward open sky. Richard Jack builds his Landscape from deep greens and pewter blues, the kind of tones that stay with you. Look at how the brushwork changes across the ground. The foreground carries thick, loaded strokes of moss and umber, while the water runs in long, flat pulls of cool grey. Clouds break overhead in soft washes, letting pale light fall on one distant slope. A calm, grounded presence for a study or reading room, where quiet scenery rewards a slow look.
