Open fields roll toward a hazy horizon under a pale, washed sky, the sort of level farmland that surrounds the Po plain villages Pellizza da Volpedo knew from childhood. Green strokes sit in short dashes across the middle distance, thin tree lines breaking the flatness. Light settles evenly, no drama, just air and distance.
