Landscape in Semmering

Rolling meadows sweep toward the Semmering range, broken by clusters of dark conifers and a pale ribbon of road. Koloman Moser flattens the alpine terrain into broad bands of green, ochre and slate, treating hills as pattern rather than scenery. Curved treetops repeat along the horizon like a decorative frieze.
