Fields of grass roll toward a line of low hills under a wide sky in this Landscape by Fujishima Takeji. The eye settles on the horizon, where earth and air meet in one thin band of light. Greens move from olive shadow in the foreground to pale yellow at the ridge, each stroke of oil paint laid in visible, unhurried passes. The sky holds most of the canvas, brushed in soft grays and cool blue with cloud edges softened to a blur. Nothing is crowded. A single slope, a distant treeline, and the quiet geometry of the land carry the whole composition. Hang it in a reading room or bedroom, where its stillness rewards long looking.
