Landscape

Rolling hills and a broad sky fill the sheet, drawn in watercolour and pencil by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Washes of moss green, dusty blue, and pale gold settle over the fields, while darker tree forms anchor the middle distance. Loose, confident strokes leave the paper breathing through the colour. Look closely and the Mackintosh hand shows in the structure beneath the softness: hedgerows run as firm ruled lines, a track cuts diagonally toward the horizon, and small clusters of buildings sit almost geometric against the slope. The sky holds most of the sheet, washed thin so the grain of the paper shows through. A quiet, grounded work for a hallway, stairwell, or study wall, where its muted greens and open sky read calmly from across the room.
