Lake Village

Wooden huts crowd the waterline of a still lake, their dark logs mirrored in slow ripples. This is Lake Village, a Nicholas Roerich composition of stilted dwellings rising from quiet northern water. Faded blue sky meets deep green shallows in broad, layered fields of pigment. The village buildings huddle on pilings, thatch and timber rendered in quick, confident strokes.
