Lake in the Mountains

A still alpine lake rests between steep slopes, its surface a sheet of pale silver under a deep Himalayan sky. Nicholas Roerich paints the scene in Lake in the Mountains with his signature tempera clarity, every ridge carved in flat planes of color.
