Lahaul Mountains

Ridge after ridge of the Lahaul range presses toward a cold sky, the nearest slopes saturated in deep cobalt while distant summits pale to nearly white. Roerich builds the scene from flat, confident planes of tempera color, letting temperature rather than line describe altitude. Snow sits unmixed on the highest crests. Shadows pool blue in the valleys between, and the whole range reads as one slow wave of stone. A study, hallway, or reading room with quiet light suits this mountain vision well.
