Lahaul (Himalayas)

High valleys of Lahaul open beneath a hard Himalayan sky in this Nicholas Roerich landscape. White summits hold the upper register while the valley floor drops away in long planes of shadowed blue and brown. The brushwork reads plainly: dry, disciplined strokes build the glaciered ridgelines, and the peaks carry that chalk-bright coldness Roerich chased across his Central Asian expeditions.
