Ladakh

Ladakh unfolds as a long ridge of painted mountains, the kind Nicholas Roerich encountered crossing the high passes of the western Himalaya. The title names the region itself, and the composition reads like a memory of that journey held in pigment. Ochre and burnt sienna slope down toward a valley floor, while the upper ridges cool into slate and thin violet haze. Small white rectangles mark monastery walls and flat-roofed houses clinging to the hillside, each one placed with an almost architectural certainty. The sky above stays pale and dry, letting the land carry the weight of the picture. Suited to a study or hallway where muted earth tones already live, giving the space a quiet horizon to look into.
