La sombra del Popo

Popocatépetl throws its long shadow across the valley in La sombra del Popo, a volcano scene by Dr. Atl, the Mexican painter who knew the peak from life, not from postcards. Mineral pigment gives the color its grain: deep violet floods the cultivated fields below while snow on the summit keeps a hard pale edge against the smoke plume. Brushwork sweeps in curved strokes, a curvilinear perspective that bends the plain toward the viewer and lets the cone own every horizon. Suited to a library or entryway with tall ceilings, where a dark mass of mountain holds a long wall and asks nothing of the furniture around it.

Information

Frequently asked

Yes. It arrives stretched over a solid wood frame, ready to hang, with the hanging hardware included.

Dust it gently with a soft, dry cloth and keep it out of direct sunlight.

Pick the size that suits your wall and furniture. If you are unsure between two, the larger one usually looks better than expected.

Each piece is made to order and shipped free with tracking, usually within a couple of weeks depending on your location. See our shipping policy for details.

Usually not, but international orders can occasionally be subject to local import fees set by your country. Anything like that is set by customs, not by us.

As each piece is made to order, we do not accept change-of-mind returns. If it arrives damaged or faulty, email support@auvrique.com within 7 days and we will put it right. See our refund policy.
