La Jolla Cove

Blue water fills the frame at La Jolla Cove, broken only by pale foam sliding over dark reef rocks. Guy Rose paints the southern California shore in his American Impressionist voice, sun struck and salt heavy. Light rakes across wet sand in bands of shell pink and violet. Offshore, the Pacific settles into flat planes of cerulean and deep ultramarine, while surf grass sways in the shallows. A quiet corner of a coastal bedroom or sunroom would carry this seascape well.
