Krym

A Crimean shoreline opens the picture: pale chalk cliffs dropping to a cold sea, the horizon pressed high against the sky. Ferdynand Ruszczyc titled the work Krym - brzeg morza, and the coast itself carries the whole composition. Blue-green water fills the lower half, brushed in broad wet strokes of teal, slate, and bone-white foam where surf breaks against rock. Above, a low headland in ochre and raw sienna runs out of frame, its edge softened by sea haze. Thin cloud bands drag across a sky of diluted cobalt. The mood is salt wind and silence, nothing between land and open water. A piece of this gravity belongs in a study or stairwell landing, anywhere the eye wants a horizon.
