Krajobraz

Low cloud presses over a sodden field in Krajobraz, a landscape by Ferdynand Ruszczyc where the cloud deck takes more than half the composition and the land stays dark beneath it. Thick oil strokes build the ground from burnt umber and raw ochre while the sky above sits in lead grey and cold white, brushwork left rough and visible. A single wind-bent tree breaks the horizon, branches combed flat, and the ploughed earth below keeps every rut and shadow in view. It suits a study or hallway with plain plaster walls, where all that black loam and open sky give a quiet room some weather.
