Koeien in weidelandschap

Cows stand scattered across a sodden Dutch pasture, heads down, tails flicking. Arnold Marc Gorter recorded them in Koeien in weidelandschap, a meadow scene built from broad, wet strokes of oil paint. Greens carry the whole surface: olive shadow in the foreground turf, yellow-green light where the sky breaks through, a horizon set low so cloud cover dominates. Each animal is blocked in with a few confident passes, white flanks and dark patches left to do the modeling. Hang it where quiet matters: above a reading chair, along a hallway, or in a study that needs a low horizon and a breath of pasture air.
