Kardang

A whitewashed gompa crowns the ridge in Kardang, its flat roofs and small dark windows set against walls of high Himalayan rock. Nicholas Roerich gives the monastery the gravity of a mountain itself. Tempera heightening does quiet work here: chalky whites over cool grey stone, thin bands of shadow along the cornices, and peaks behind built from layered planes of ultramarine and slate. The eye climbs the slope in stages, past scattered stones to the prayer structures at the summit. A meditation corner, library, or entry hall with north light would suit it well, anywhere that rewards stillness and long looking.

Information

Frequently asked

Yes. It ships fully framed and assembled, with the hanging hardware already fitted to the back.

Wipe the front gently with a soft, dry cloth and keep it out of direct sunlight.

Pick the size that suits your wall and furniture. If you are unsure between two, the larger one usually looks better than expected.

Each piece is made to order and shipped free with tracking, usually within a couple of weeks depending on your location. See our shipping policy for details.

Usually not, but international orders can occasionally be subject to local import fees set by your country. Anything like that is set by customs, not by us.

As each piece is made to order, we do not accept change-of-mind returns. If it arrives damaged or faulty, email support@auvrique.com within 7 days and we will put it right. See our refund policy.
