Kangchenjunga

Kangchenjunga rises through Roerich's paint like a pyramid cut from sky, its five peaks dissolving into bands of violet haze. Nicholas Roerich built this Himalayan vision in tempera, layering deep cobalt over pale ridgelines until the mountain seems lit from within. Look closely and the brushwork tells everything: short, dry strokes model the glacier faces, while the foreground slopes stay flat and ceremonial, a dark stage set before the colossal white form. Thin washes of rose and gold warm the summit snow at its highest edge. Suited to a study or reading room, where mountain silence belongs.
