Kampa Dzong. Pink Peak

A pink peak crowns Kampa Dzong, the Tibetan fortress rendered small beneath it. Nicholas Roerich gives the mountain the first word and the last. The dzong huddles at its base, stone against stone. Rose and violet wash across the summit in thin, translucent layers, cool as high-altitude air. Below, ochre slopes and the squared silhouette of the fortress walls sit in harder, earthier pigment. The contrast is the whole argument: human masonry reduced to a footnote by a mountain flushed with dawn or dusk light. Suited to a study or a hallway where a single landscape can hold an entire wall of quiet.
