Jasmine

Jasmine climbs the page in pale, unruly lines, each stem drawn by Charles Rennie Mackintosh with a calligrapher patience. The flower holds its ground against open space and refuses to fill it. Muted greens and soft ivory carry the composition. Thin curving stems rise and bend, small blossoms opening at intervals, leaves reduced to slim ovals. The background stays cool and quiet, letting the botanical drawing read almost like an architectural elevation. Every curve is deliberate, a balance between ornament and observation. A hallway, sunroom, or bedroom corner in soft neutrals gives the sprig room to breathe, echoing the calm of a Glasgow townhouse interior.
