Jasmine Bush

White blossoms mass along arching stems, small four-pointed stars pressed into a wall of green. Pyotr Konchalovsky painted Jasmine bush with the greed of a gardener, treating one shrub as a complete landscape. Loaded oil strokes stack bloom against bloom, each dab of white holding a greenish eye at its center, so the flower heads glow like small lamps sunk into the foliage. Leaves run from sap green to near black, and the shaded interior of the bush stays dense and cool. A glassed porch or sunroom suits it best, though a hallway in deep color would throw every petal into colder relief.
