Jardin du Luxembourg

Gravel paths wind beneath the chestnut allées of a Paris park, and Stefan Popescu set his easel among the strollers. Jardin du Luxembourg gathers that quiet afternoon in loose, sun-flecked brushwork. Green iron chairs scatter across pale gravel near the octagonal pond, where toy sailboats drift and children lean in. Behind them the palace facade rises in muted terracotta and grey, half dissolved by foliage, while oil paint sits in short, deliberate dabs of sage, moss and umber. A study, a hallway, or a reading nook lined with old books would hold these garden greens well, letting that soft light carry the whole corner.
