Irish Landscape

Green fields climb toward a low sky, hedgerows cutting the slopes into loose irregular panels. Robert Henri painted Ireland during his summers on the western coast, and Irish Landscape carries that weather in every stroke. Thick oil paint rides the surface, grasses laid in with loaded bristles, cloud shadow sliding across a distant hillside. Little buildings sit small against the land, whitewashed and brief. The palette runs moss, peat brown, slate grey, one flare of pale light where the sun breaks through. A piece like this settles naturally into a study or reading room, anywhere that favors quiet, earthy company over decoration.
