Irish Landscape

Rain-washed fields roll toward a line of low hills in Irish Landscape, where Richard Jack reads the countryside the way a native would, every slope and hedge placed with quiet certainty. Paint sits in layered strokes of moss green, peat brown and slate grey, the sky pressed in broad wet passages above fields divided by dry stone walls. A whitewashed cottage, barely larger than a thumbnail, anchors the middle distance; smoke drifts sideways in the wind. It suits a study or reading nook, anywhere that rewards slow looking, and pairs well with weathered wood, linen and other quiet interiors.
