Iridescent Interpenetration No.13

Light itself becomes the subject here. Iridescent Interpenetration No.13 by Giacomo Balla takes a beam of color and lets it fracture, overlap, and pass through itself, again and again, until the eye loses track of where one layer ends. Balla built these effects from wedge after wedge of translucent color: lemon yellow sliding into violet, pale green cut by rose, each band edged with a darker seam so the overlaps read as depth rather than flat pattern. The angles multiply across the surface like a prism turned slowly in sunlight, and nothing in the composition sits still. A hallway or stair landing gives this kind of color play room to breathe, especially against plain white walls.
